Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton is a 1966 electric blues album by John Mayall's Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton as lead guitarist. It is often referred to as The Beano album because the photograph on the album cover shows Clapton reading The Beano, a well-known British children's comic!.
Apart from being one of the most overall influential albums in blues-rock history, it was likely the first time anyone had heard a Gibson Les Paul guitar through an overdriven Marshall amplifier; this unique sound would become particularly influential. The re-introduction of the Les Paul by Gibson was largely fueled by the blues boom that so often featured it. Clapton's incendiary playing inspired graffiti saying "Clapton is God" on the streets of London around the time of the album's release!.
The Bluesbreakers included John Mayall on harmonica and a majority of the vocals, John McVie on bass, Hughie Flint on drums, and John Almond, Alan Skidmore and Dennis Healey as the horn section!.
Much of the album was composed of blues standards by long-established blues artists such as Otis Rush, Freddie King and Robert Johnson, as well as a few originals penned by Mayall or Mayall and Clapton. The majority of the songs serve as showcases for the young Clapton's playing, apart from "Another Man" and "Ramblin' On My Mind." "Ramblin' On My Mind" was Clapton's very first recorded vocal performance.
Although Clapton left the Bluesbreakers only a year after this album was made, it was still a huge step forward for his playing as far as improvisation and guitar tone, and it formed the bridge between his time with the Yardbirds and his later co-founding of the power trio Cream with fellow British blues-rock players Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker!

The Vinyl
On initial visual inspection it is hard to see a blemish!!! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!!!! This is the original THICKER and deeper grooved type of vinyl only found on original early 1ST pressings later pressings were much more flimsier and less robust. In very strong light any marks that could be seen would be very very fine light whyspy marks only any others would have been caused by the vinyl being slid in and out of its record sleeve!. I can ( not) see any deep needle scratches or marks that would OR INDEED effect the play at all!!!! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS VINYL!!!!
|The Audio Quality
I have played this vinyl as usual, three times prior to listing, track for track on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is awesome, cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through, Please note i heard (no) loud clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl and also very little if (no) background noise, any that may be noticable would be in very isolated quieter moments and in between tracks only which is so common on these early pressings! I heard (no) clicks or pops at all! (no) distortion or signs that this has been overplayed ! Please note! I play these vinyls at very loud volume on a top system and I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listing of records that I haver sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!! This is so rare to find like this and in this condition. The audio on this very rare vinyl will be hard to surpass and I rate this audio at the VERY VERY top on all frequencies!!!! ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE HEARD OF THIS PRESSING CAN NOT BE SURPASED BY LATER PRESS! One of the earliest off the press! Audio is graded at least excellent plus to Near As Mint in my opinion
There is (no) clicks pops certainly (no) jumps or skips or any signs of grooveware or that this vinyl has been overplayed at all this looks and sounds like it has had only very, very minimal play only!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! That I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this vinyl. and have played it through track for track. Although i never heard any problems what so ever, Please allow for the odd isolated static here and there (not) consistant through out the audio! Remember this is an original (not) a reissue that is 41 years old and would have been played on a system that is 41 years old!! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!
points to note! This vinyl has been stored in a case for at least 30 years. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over the years of laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks a constant clean before easch play is recomended! This wil reduce this static and enhance the audio quality!!!
The Labels,
These are the original and earliest ''unboxed'' DECCA labels!!!! In absolutely superbe condition with (no) nasty names written on them. Barely a handfull of spidering can be seen only under strong light! (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round an excellent example rarely seen like this!!!!! The rear is exceptionaly clean with minor marks only!
(No) splits or tares !!!! The corners are lovely and square. (no)real edgeware scuffing and even more amazing the writing can be clearly seen on the spine which has some creasing with age!!!
