Description

You are bidding on: "MAX ROACH QUARTET FEATURING HANK MOBLEY"

RARE ORIGINAL 10" PRESSING OF THIS CLASSIC QUARTET

Original pressing. We do not sell re-issues.

label:DEBUT

year: 1953

record condition: VG WITH HEAVY ALL OVER SCUFFS AND A COUPLE OF HAIRLINES. THE REASON I'M NOT RATING THIS RECORD LOWER IS BECAUSE IF THOUGH IT DOES HAVE HEAVY SPINDLE MARKS AND HEAVY MARKS ON THE VINYL IT PLAYS SUPER STRONG DUE TO THE QUALITY OF THE PRESSING. MOSTLY THEIR IS JUST HISS THAT I'VE FOUND IN MOST OF THE DEBUT PRESSINGS AND THE OCCASSIONAL SMALL POP THAT IS NOT READILY DISCERNIBLE BECAUSE OF THE DYNAMICS OF MOST OF THE TUNES SAVE FOR "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU" THAT SUFFERS THE WORST DUE TO IT'S QUIET DYNAMIC RANGE AND SPACIOUS PASSAGES. THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THE LP IS STILL VERY COLLECTABLE IN MY OPINION BUT I'M TRYING TO BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE SO THAT YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING.

cover condition:VG- 8" SEAM SPLIT AT TOP AND BOTTOM THAT REQUIRES ATTENTION AND SOME RED PAINT ON THE "O" AND THE "A" IN "ROACH" THAT'S NOT READILY NOTICEABLE EVEN WHEN SCRUTINIZED (SEE PHOTO)

original cellophane:N

promo copy:N

cut-out:N

Mint: This grading reserved for sealed Lp’s or warehouse stock 45’s only! Near mint: Appears unplayed. No Marks, scuffs or spindle marks.

Very Good +: Records may have minor defects that do not strongly effect listening. Some noise or popcorn may be discernible in intro and run-out as well as during quiet passages. Some marring of label may be present as well as small bends and cut-out holes on cover.

Very Good: Many of the defects present at vg+ will be intensified here. Still a very good record but generally with more background noise or cover defects.:

Good+: Heavy popcorn or bad cover. Appears that it wouldn’t skip during a visual grading.

Good: Our lowest grade from barely listenable down to unlistenable.
