Description

PLEASE NOTE: I NO LONGER SHIP TO ITALY (SEE NOTE BELOW)

YEAR: 1981
LABEL: ARTISTE / SKY-FI
LABEL & MATRIX #: AB 5206

VINYL CONDITION: EXCELLENT (Track 1) / (EXCELLENT)+ (Tracks 2 and 3)
SLEEVE CONDITION: (VERY GOOD)+

THE MATCHHEADS from San Francisco, CA released only this one 7”EP during their existence.  The band was “rediscovered” and this EP became very sought when two of the songs, “Pearl Harbor” and “Fat B*tch”, were comped on KILLED BY DEATH #9 back in 1995.

There is some slight surface noise here and there on Track 1, “Cadillac”, so I graded it slightly lower than the other two songs.  Tracks 2 and 3 are both VERY CLEAN and are virtually free of any surface noise.  All of the tracks are free of any vinyl “pops”, skips, etc.   Very nice!

The pocket sleeve opens at the top and is printed on a semi-glossy grade of paper. The paper is rather thin and fragile and there is some rumpling, but overall it is in pretty nice shape and still has sharp corners and is free of any seam splits and also has no rumpling at the top of the sleeve.

THE FINE PRINT
GRADING

For all of the used vinyl that I sell, I record a copy onto my computer and analyze this rip with my sound editing software- I have found it to be a great way to find any issues, imperfections, etc. that may stand out (rather than just putting on the headphones and listening to a record the old fashioned way).  I try my best to be as accurate and honest as possible about vinyl condition in my item descriptions.

BIDDERS
Here are a few stipulations that I have been forced to set up with my auctions.  First- due to previous headaches I have had with “new eBay members”, you CANNOT bid on my auctions if your feedback rating is less than less than 0 or if you have 2 or more unpaid item strikes within the last 30 days.

SHIPPING
I NO LONGER SHIP TO ITALY
: I have also had too many headaches and problems shipping items to Italy (it’s been said for years that they unfortunately have the worst Postal Service in the world, and I now see why).  So sorry potential Italian bidders, but no can do.

Payment is preferred through PayPal and is due within 5 days after the auction ends (my auctions always begin/end on a Sunday so therefore payment must be received the following Friday).  Postage prices are the responsibility of the winning bidder of course.  Within the United States record will be shipped by either Media Mail or Priority Mail (your choice).  For international, non-U.S. bidders this record will be shipped via USPS First Class Mail International.

ATTENTION CANADIAN BIDDERS:  Your shipping rates will be lower than the flat International rate in the below table.  A 7”EP costs only $2.50 US to mail to Canada and an LP only costs $5.70 US so please disregard the higher International prices stated below- sorry for any confusion.

I DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY FROM SHIPPING COSTS like some other sellers try to.  It honestly costs $6 to mail a 7” to most of the world from the U.S. and an LP honestly costs $12 to mail to most of the world.  An LP costs twice as much as a 7” because- all packaged up- an LP weighs over 1 lb. and as soon as packages are above 1 lb., the Postal prices nearly double unfortunately.  ATTENTION CANADIAN BIDDERS: YOUR SHIPPING COSTS WILL BE LOWER THAN THE “WORLDWIDE” FLAT RATE LISTED IN THIS ITEM DESCRIPTION- E-MAIL ME FOR RATES.

SHIPPING DISCOUNTS WILL BE APPLIED FOR WINNERS OF MULTIPLE ITEMS THAT END ON THE SAME DAY!  If you win multiple items from me on the same day, I will send you an invoice after the auctions end with this shipping discount reflected in that invoice.

And please note that when I ship records, I take great care to make sure the record is packaged properly- I always separate the picture sleeve from the vinyl and secure them tightly and securely with plenty of cardboard to prevent any damage that could happen in transit.

On Apr-20-08 at 22:46:20 PDT, seller added the following information:

A FEW ADDENDUMS TO THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
First, 2 of the tracks on this EP were comped on KILLED BY DEATH #8.5, not v.9 (sorry, my mistype)

Secondly, I found out that there were two different pressings done of this EP way back in 1981.  The first pressing had a sleeve printed on "photography quality paper"- since this one I am selling is on thinner quality paper (per my original item description) then it appears to be part of the 2nd pressing.  Still pretty darn rare, tho.
