Mastodon is a Grammy nominated heavy metal band and are one of the most notable bands in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Formed in 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia by Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, Troy Sanders, and Brent Hinds. If you haven't heard them, and you're a fan of Metallica around the time of Fight Fire With Fire, etc., you'll LOVE these guys.

Mastodon was formed in late 1999 when drummer Brann Dailor and guitarist Bill Kelliher moved to Atlanta and met bass guitarist/singer Troy Sanders and guitarist/singer Brent Hinds at a High on Fire show.[10] They discovered they had a mutual appreciation of sludge metal bands Melvins and Neurosis and '70s hard-rockers Thin Lizzy, and shortly thereafter formed Mastodon.

They recorded a demo in 2000, which featured the band's first lead singer, Eric Saner on vocals. Saner left the band for personal reasons after just a couple of months. After recording a four song demo and a 7-inch picture disc through Reptilian Records (HEY! That's US!) , Mastodon landed a record deal with Relapse Records in 2001.

The Call of the Mastodon is a remastering and remixing of the band's first nine songs.  If you want the original versions, find one of our 7" picture discs.

My Mother Says:
This record, along with Leviathan, actually made me start listening to metal again.  I'd lost hope.  This has the musicianship to satisfy true metalheads, but it has the punk rock balls and intelligence to satisfy the, uh, how-do-you-say "non-traditional metal fans", who tend to be, uh, how-do-you-say...smarter than trailer trash.
Not that everyone who likes metal is the equivalent of trailer trash.  But what do I know?  I'm Johnny's mom, and I live in West Virginia and actually have family members who've lived in trailers their whole lives.

See the photo(s).  Sorry about my hand in the shots, (if it is), but I try to NEVER LAY THE VINYL DOWN ON ANYTHING, unlike lots of sellers, who FREAKIN' lay records down on tables and things to photograph them!  We give them all the very clean hand or WHITE GLOVE TREATMENT, as you see in the photos, and take the pics with someone holding the vinyl in the air, never touching it, pulling it carefully from its sleeve.

Let me reiterate.  The album you see in the photograph?  It is being held in someone's hand.  It was taken very carefully from the sleeve, and held in the air.  Not touched at all on the vinyl.  Compare that to f*cking sellers who take out albums and lay them down on the floor or the table or something in their photos.  F*ck them!  I hate that.  This sh*t is sacred.  WE DON'T TOUCH YOUR VINYL.  EVER.

Whatever we sell you is going to be in the best shape possible. We're all collectors and know that other collectors appreciate the extra mile.  I mean, there may be a smoker in the building, but he doesn't blow it into the records, and we handle them as if they might explode! (Although they won't, postal person, we promise)

If you get your goods and think it doesn't stand up to what we said in our auction, contact Johnny or Noel here, point your finger to this part of the auction, send us back your win, and we'll send you back your money.  It's that easy, sleazy.  Bid knowing you're safe in our nasty little hands.

And as I said before, we like to grade conservatively, so you end up being happy with what you get.  It's like a surprise!  And we start auctions low so you could end up winning a rare collectible for next to nothing.  Good luck!

Have a good time bidding. Maybe you can get it for a steal. Good luck. Hopefully you'll get it for a good price. If you have any questions, fire 'em at us!

If you buy up to two items, the postage stays the same. Over that, we tack on a dollar for each item.  Unless we're feeling rich on that particular day.

We will ship this ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

ORDERS OVERSEAS, ESPECIALLY TO EUROPE (AND ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY GERMANY) ARE SOMETIMES TAKING A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME.  SOME VINYL IS TAKING UP TO A MONTH TO ARRIVE.  IF YOU CAN TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT AS A POSSIBILITY, GO AHEAD AND BID.  IF, ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU ARE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY AND ARE NOT PREPARED TO WAIT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, PLEASE DO NOT BID. And I don't mean that in an angry way, I mean it in a "we keep getting people in Germany and other countries overseas sending us angry letters 2 weeks after the auction ends, or starting a dispute over a record that is simply slow in reaching them because of the international overseas mail service.  So what I'm saying is this: if you're not feeling patient, please don't take it out on us if the record doesn't arrive quickly. We'll gladly take out insurance, or give you a tracking number, or whatever you want if you feel like paying extra to ensure that your record doesn't get lost. But if you just pay the basic postage and your record doesn't get there for 4 weeks, don't shoot the messenger.
