** Note: this is the rare original Canadian Columbia issue on thick 140g vinyl.......NOT the more common U.S. issue on Epic .
Originally named "Le Triangle", Pierre Senecal (organ, piano, flute, sax), Jerry Mercer (drums) and Rayburn Blake (guitar) were gigging & tripping on the Montreal underground club scene in the late sixties when they decided to rename themselves after a popular halucinagenic, "Mashmakhan". Joined by Brian Edwards (bass, vocals), they signed with Columbia and recorded two inspired Long Plays, the self-titled debut in 1969, and this their second (and last) a year later.
The band split up after this LP, with Jerry Mercer joining April Wine, while Blake and Edwards formed "Riverson" releasing their own folk-psych monster in 1973.
