MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find very first MONO press released by Apple Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1969 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), catalog number APPLE-2004, with machine etched matrix numbers APCOR 5A-1 in Side A and APCOR 5B-1 in Side B, with traditional Apple Records labels. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile for all lovers, fans and collectors of Mary Hopkin and Apple label records!!! WOW!!!

“Post Card” was the debut album of Mary Hopkin, originally released in UK in 1969 and the same year we got the album released here in Chile, and like so many times of the period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle faking a gatefold cover with two sheets of paper attached (not glued in this case) to that cardboard for front and back cover and kept all together for a plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original artwork, with the picture of Mary Hopkin, her name and the album title written in English only. Back cover also keeps the original design, but here in Chile it’s only black and white, with additional information about this Chilean press at the bottom left corner and some differences in the post card which includes the track list. Here in Chile the postal address of Apple Records and the regards “love from Paul, Ken, Linda” are omitted, song titles are written in English, translated to Spanish, except for “Y Blodyn Gwyn”, which’s written in English only. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about Paul McCartney as producer. In this MEGARARE Chilean press you can see a print error, the song “Y Blodyn Gwyn”, correctly written in back cover, it’s misspelled “Y Blodyn GWIN” in label!!! In this Chilean press the song written in back cover “Show Business” is written just like in the original UK issue “There’s No Business Like Show Business”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this classic album by Mary Hopkin, one of the first musicians of Apple Records, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BLACK AND WHITE BACK COVER design and UNIQUE ERROR!!! WOW!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or even EX+ condition, only with some minimal wear in edges, more evident in corners and in the mouth edge, more evident in the mouth edge and corners. The plastic sleeve is present and it has worked very well protecting this so fragile paper sleeve, the ring mark you see in the pictures is on the plastic bag not on the papers. The record is in EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which of course don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX or EX+ condition, clean and clear, with minimal spindle hole wear, the name of a radio station and the date this record was received there stamped on both sides, and a writing and a white sticker on Side A. The sound is in strong VG+ or EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant very soft crackles and occasional light clicks here and there, more evident in song “Lord Of The Reedy River”, and some hiss in the song “Show Business”, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the still loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, maybe this is not a record for the strictest Minty minds and audiophiles, but sure it’s still a record with a very nice look, almost immaculate labels and still a great sound quality after almost 50 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BLACK AND WHITE BACK COVER design and UNIQUE ERROR!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP10 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
