Mary Hopkin - 'Earth Song / Ocean Song'. SAPCOR 21
Mary Hopkin 1971 UK 1st DEMONSTRATION Apple pressing of the 'Earth Song / Ocean Song' LP. Released on the 1st October 1971, these demo pressings would have been given out to reviewers or radio stations before the official release date. Offered here with wonderful EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition vinyl. This has been fully play tested and sounds amazing, with NO faults just light crackle.
'Earth Song / Ocean Song' was Mary Hopkin's second album on the Beatles own label and is one of the rarer Apple LP's to locate due to it's relatively low sales back in 1971. Released on the dark 'Apple Records' label both sides state 'DEMONSTRATION RECORD NOT FOR SALE'. This comes fully complete with the original Apple inner sleeve and correct gatefold cover. The vinyl also features 1G mothers and stampers to each side making this one of the very, very first copies to be produced.
In addition, the top right corner on the front cover features an unusual Apple sticker. This is simply an Apple Records logo against a black background. Overwritten on this sticker are what appears to be 'CCR' and '1/10'. The later is a reference to the release date but I am not aware of what relevance CCR would mean.
The Matrix numbers, mothers and stampers are all the earliest possible for this release:
Side 1. SAPCOR 21 A-4U 1 G
Side 2. SAPCOR 21 B-4U 1 G
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition.
Both sides of the vinyl have been play tested with NO faults at all, perfect.
Both labels are in MINT- condition. Perfect
The sleeve is in VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+ condition. Some discolouration to the front no longer pure white.
The inner sleeve is in GOOD+ condition. This has a number of unusual holes to each side. I will also include an additional sleeve for protection.
This LP will be very carefully packaged for transit. UK recorded postage is: £4.00. EU recorded postage is: £9.95. Rest of the world recorded postage is: £14.95. Combined, reduced postage is available.
