MOTOWN COLLECTORS - ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE ISSUES - ALWAYS HARD TO COME BY.
Here's a very nice original USA first issue copy with the elusive picture sleeve of this great pairing from MARVIN GAYE & MARY WELLS with "WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU BABY" and backed with "ONCE UPON A TIME" on the US MOTOWN imprint # M 1057.
Pricing has always been partly determined by the condition of the sleeve rather than the record itself and finding a copy with a decent matching picture sleeve has always been a challenge as many have become soiled and dog-eared over time with heavy creasing, rips, written annotations, price stickers, coffee staining as well as the inevitable deletion drill hole and ring wear. On a scale of 1 through 10 with "ten" being mint, I would rate this sleeve as "8" with light ring wear on both sides and light creasing with staple holes in the top front left hand corner that was common with dealers to stop buyers pulling the disc from the sleeve and causing a small rip but without any written annotations other than the original stamped retail price of 98 cents.
The disc itself plays perfectly throughout with good audible quality and remains in excellent condition with light crackle on the run-in and run-out groove and light surface sleeve rubs not affecting play. The labels are very clean on both sides other than the deletion drill hole and with light ring wear making this a very decent copy of this rare combination for the DJ or collector (see picture scans).
The record has been play graded and is from my personal collection that I'm downsizing so why not check out my other listings for more great sounds.
