ARTIST: MARVIN GAYE

TITLE: HOW SWEET IT IS  TO BE LOVED BY YOU

LABEL: TAMLA MOTOWN TML 11004

Marvin Gaye's second UK LP and in my view his best before he veered off into show tunes and standards in a Berry Gordy-inpsired attempt to go 'mainstream' in the States.  This LP is getting quite hard to find now especially a copy with EX+ vinyl like this one. The vinyl retains all its original lustre with no visible scuffs only a very few whispey hairlines caused by removal from the sleeve. This copy has the correct EMI lined 'Use EMITEX' inner (which was used until late in 1965 when the more familiar advertising inner was introduced.) This has caused a touch of bag rash on one track but this is not a major fault at all. The labels are clean and unworn with little evidence of play at all. The labels grade EX++.

The record sounds as good as it looks and must grade EX+ for aural quality. Played on a Technics SL 1210 Mk2  deck with Ortophon Pro cartridge there are no clicks, pops, hiss, jumps, sticks or any evidence of groove wear on this copy. There is a very very occasional touch of the lightest and hardly detectable crackle between some of the tracks but this did not detract from the extraordinary listening experience.

The front laminated, flipback cover is EX. It is flat with no card creases, no edge wear, barely worn corners and not through the laminate. nice straight legible spine. The unlaminated rear has intact flipbacks and just very minimal signs of handling and storage. There are just a few laminate creases at the opening caused by pressure from the thumb of a previous owner.

THIS IS A GREAT COPY OF A HARD-TO-FIND MOTOWN UK ORIGINAL OFFERED WITH NO RESERVE AND A LOW STARTING BID

BUYER INFORMATION

Please note that unless the play quality is specifically mentioned records are graded visually. I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.

GRADING SYSTEM

NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above

EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.

GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.

I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.

Check out my feedback and you will feel secure in bidding but please note I cannot guarantee to describe every detail of the record and cover BUT the grading will reflect the general, actual condition. ONLY if the grading does not reflect the overall condition of the item will I refund. But be assured that if there is any major defect not mentioned by me I offer a no quibble guarantee. I do not refund return postage costs.

I accept PayPal, cheques drawn on UK banks and Postal Orders. Please note I prefer cheques from UK buyers. I do not make any additional charge for using Paypal.

Secure postage for single LPs is £3.00 (UK) and £6.00 (EU). Double LPs £5.00 (UK) and £9.50 (EU). The rest of world is £7.50 for single LPs and £10.00 for doubles. Rates for multiple copies and singles vary. Items over £30 in value are recommended to be sent insured. If you wish to have an item insured the cost is £4.00 UK and £6.00 Rest of World. I obtain a certificate of posting from the UK Post Office for all items. If an item is lost in the post I will claim on the buyer's behalf and reimburse when the Post Office pays compensation. I will refund the purchase price for any item which does not match the grade criteria outlined above. You will see from my feedback that buyers are very positive about the accuracy of the descriptions I provide. It is the buyer's responsibility to read the listing carefully. I will not refund if the buyer has made unwarranted assumptions about the item. I WILL REFUND AUCTION COSTS IN FULL IF A CLAIM IS MADE WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF THE END OF THE AUCTION. I ALWAYS LEAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK FOR THOSE WHO DO LIKEWISE. BID WITH CONFIDENCE
