Description
MARIANUS : Visions from Out of the Blue LP (Jupiter Phonodisc [USA] JP-2711) 1981.
Record and cover (uncut in shrink) are Near Mint (our highest grade for an opened record). With original inner sleeve, which is a little creased, but has no edge splits (pretty unusual for this type of inner).
Superb original copy of this very weird 1981 private rock/prog/AOR LP.
From Acid Archives:
"This is hyped as a prog album (and occasionally as an AOR album), but defining it by that genre doesn't tell the whole story about this oddity. It takes cues from pretty much every rock style of the preceding 25 years, even glam and new wave (those two are especially apparent on the irresistible opening track.) There's a bit of mellotron on the album, a spacy instrumental, a bunch of catchy choruses, bizarre backing vocals and a singer who is the missing link between Steve Harley and Geddy Lee. The guitar riffs on the early verses of 'Man From Another Planet' really hit the spot. The songwriting throughout is creative and intelligent. This is weird and distinctive! I'm not sure who the audience is for this one, but it's pretty great." (Aaron Milenski)
