Excellent Marcel Duchamp / John Cage original pressing vinyl from the 70's on Usa Finnadar label(the record label of Ilhan Mimaroglu, where also was released the Jean Dufubbet record!)
Appears here Marcel Duchamp's "The Bride Stripped bare by her Bachelors, even. Erratum Musical". This piece proposed an elaborate compositional process utilizing chance operations to create a new musical alphabet. The score consists of a manuscript that describes the compositional process and how to realize it. Duchamp states that the composition may be performed on a player piano, mechanical organ or any other new instruments for which the virtuoso intermediary is suppressed. Once an instrument has been chosen, the compositional process may begin. The process requires the following : a large funnel, five open-connected wagons and numbered balls. There must be one numbered ball for each sound(timbre and/or pitch)the chosen instrument(s) is capable of producing. Each one of the 5 wagons represents a predetermined time period. The balls are all placed into the funnel and fall at random into the wagons which are pulled under the funnel. Once the funnel is empty and all the wagons have passed under, the balls are removed from each wagon and notated in sequence of removal. The duration of each note is determined by the number of balls in a given wagon in relation to the assigned time period of the wagon!! Dynamics are left to chance during the performance!! REALLY CRAZY!! For this performance, which is the first EVER recording, the performer Donald Knaack has created new percussion instruments from glass(because of Duchamp's interest and work with glass and transparency), like wind chimes, xylophone made of glass rods, tube chimes and glass maracas. 24 instruments and 95 timbres.
John Cage's "27'10.554" is also performed from Donald Knaack, who uses new instruments, found objects and alterations of standard percussion instruments, combined with a magnetic tape, where he has recorded a moog Percussion Trigger, which triggered a percussive envelope of low-pass filtered white noise into a moog synthesizer. The tape is played simoultaneously with the performance of the percussion instruments.
Extremely hard to find, shows up scarcely on ebay, because of the small number limited edition pressing it was pressed in back in the 70's(and not re-released later)!!
Cover lies in excellent condition, while the vinyl lies also in excellent condition with some light hairline marks(but plays perfectly)!!
