UK FIRST PRESSING VINYL LP IN GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH ORIGINAL LYRIC INNER SLEEVE.
Bolan tried his hardest to move ahead from the 'glam rock' bag he and David Bowie had virtually created, he knew his teen idol days were over and musically he was ready to move on - but like most teen idols, his original fans were not that interested in what he was going to do next, so by the time he merged his rockabilly/boogie shuffle glam sound with soul and R&B, he'd as good as lost most of his audience in one go. Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow was a commercial failure for Bolan, even though he pre-dated Bowie's venture into soul on Young Americans by two years. Bolan never really recovered from the failure of Zinc Alloy, he still managed some more hits and charting LPs in the few years he had had left, but his sales never matched the peak that they reached around the time of The Slider. Fortunately, time has been kind to Zinc Alloy, it's a darn fine transition album for Bolan, and features lots of the trademark elements that made him such an enjoyable star in his heyday. Quirky lyrics, bluesy guitar licks neatly lifted from the greats (Howlin' Wolf for one) and Tony Visconti's always-excellent production.

SLEEVE: VERY GOOD+, JUST LIGHT SHELF AND EDGE WEAR, SMALL SCUFF AREA ON REAR. INNER SLEEVE IS VERY GOOD+ WITH A FEW WRINKLES. THERE ARE THREE CORNER CUTS ON THE INNER SLEEVE WHICH WE BELIEVE TO BE ORIGINAL TO THE SLEEVE, WE DO NOT SEE THIS ALBUM OFTEN BUT MOST EMI PRESSED INNER SLEEVES HAD THIS FEATURE OR VARIATIONS THEREOF.
DISC: DELIGHTFUL HEAVY EMI VINYL THAT VISUALLY IS VERY GOOD+ AND PLAYS EXCELLENT MINUS. NO SCRATCHES AND NO NOTICEABLE SPINDLE WEAR, JUST A FEW LIGHT HAIRLINES AND SCUFFS. CLEAN LABELS BOTH SIDES. A SPLENDID PLAYING COPY WITH SUPERB AUDIO.
