Manfred Mann Chapter Three is the debut album released in 1969 by Manfred Mann Chapter Three. It was one of the three first albums released on the Vertigo record label. The principal members of the group were Manfred Mann and Mike Hugg. Mann played the organ and acted as the group's musical arranger, whilst Hugg handled vocals, played piano and was the chief song writer. The group was augmented by a five-piece brass section and several distinguished jazz soloists.
The core songs "Travelling Lady", "Snakeskin Garter", "Devil Woman" and "Time" define the album's sound: long, slow, doomy one chord riffs beneath sections of breathy vocals, powerful brass and free-form improvised solos. "Konekuf" is the same without the vocals, while "A Study in Inaccuracy" is simply freeform. "Sometimes", "One Way Glass", "Ain't It Sad" and "Where Am I Going" are shorter and more melodic, wistful songs centering around Hugg's electric piano, on which he turns in an able solo on "Mister, You're a Better Man Than I"
A fascinating piece of work - successfully rewarding on each play

Vinyl: EX+ to NM. Stunning deep glossy and heavy vinyl. Barely played, possibly unplayed. A beautiful glossy vinyl without any hairlines.  Under a very bright light source a few paper retraction traces which remain invisible in normal daylight. I subjected the record to a detailed listen on my high end system and it sounded great. Lovely channel separation without any distortion and only very light static at times mainly between tracks. Labels are undamaged and in NM condition without any spindle traces. An impossible find in this fantastic condition and a vinyl very worthy of investment. This is so extremely rare. Records in this kind of sublime condition are a very rare find indeed and this will sit nicely in a  collection of higher graded vinyls. A vinyl very worthy as an investment. Of course, NO jumps or sticks.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX.  Without doubt one of the much harder to find Vertigo swirls. The colours have been retained very nicely, there are a couple of small light handling creases near the spine. There is a  colour retouch just underneath "three" to the front but it is certainly not intrusive. The inside gatefold is mint, absolutely gorgeous. The spine is 100% legible. Edge wear is only light on the bottom edge from storage, the top edge is excellent and the opening is still crisp! The pictures give you some impression of the quality at hand in this auction. A stunner I think and very worthy of investment.

Inner sleeve: The swirl inner sleeve is in great shape with the poly liner attached. No creases or splits. Age related yellowing as per the picture. An easy EX.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
