MAN Revelation (Pye NSPL 18275) Deke Leonard Erotica RARE UK 1st Pressing MINT-
RARE very first UK pressing of Man`s debut album "Revelation", released on Pye Records (January 1969).
"The most notorious track on the album, and the one that got the band some press coverage and a ban from sale in WH Smiths, is Erotica. Based around a live jam captured by the Pye mobile recording unit, the piece was originally intended to be purely instrumental until producer Schroeder suggested they add a moaning woman simulating an orgasm (hence the ban!). Obviously, the sound effects library did not have the requisite material and so a typist from Pye's offices was recruited to add the appropriate noises!" - From Revelation review, dprp.net
GRADING:
MINT- COVER. Original first-pressing front-laminated sleeve with only lightest wear. Please see photos for details.
- Original first-pressing sleeve with flipback-type rear sleeve, as found on early pressings only.
- Very light record imprint on front cover.
- Near-perfect edges and spine.
- Small crease to bottom edge on rear sleeve (at left). Other than that, the cover is pretty much perfect.
- Also includes the original, plastic-lined inner sleeve in MINT- condition.
MINT- RECORD that looks practically unplayed. Perfect audio reproduction throughout.
- Two or three very superficial hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- Original first-pressing black-and-blue Pye Records labels with a single, light spindle line on each label.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "NSLP 18275 A-1 ?T STEREO" and "NSLP 18275 B-1 ?T STEREO", indicating a very first UK pressing.
- Mothers/Stampers: "- / K T" on both sides.
- This record is fully certified to be an original UK first pressing of "Revelation", released in January 1969.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay UK, this item is in honestly-graded MINT- condition. You will NOT find another original first pressing of "Revelation" as nice as this one - especially at this bargain price: "True value for money" is the motto here!
