The reason for this is plain: There simply is no finer player of Chopin, in my view, and here, in the release by Connoisseur of "Chopin: The Poetry of Piano," you will find the incomparable Ivan Moravec at work on all of the ballades, preludes and nocturnes.
But you will find more here, much more.
That this man can play at a level that is almost mystical, makes it so very hard to describe. But at night, lights low, I promise you, you will hear it. Quite extraordinary, particularly the nocturnes; how time stops, wants to let pass these notes of grace, as if, in fact, it is helpless to do anything but pay tribute to this effortless, shining flow of truth, revelation, beauty.
Box is very handsome and smart, no major flaws, just one split corner; while inside are four heavy-platter records in near-mint shape.
One of the most extraordinary piano sets I know of. Close to magic.
