Description
Rare and very hard to find Lp from the band MAGI called WIN OR LOSE. Original USA Indie Lp with no label 6102 N13
Produced by MAGI with Uncle Dirty in 1976 in Kalamazoo Michigan. There were only 1000 copies of this record ever pressed and all were sold out within that first year. Here is your chance to own one of those copies.
John Gaut - lead vocals
Larry Stutzman - guitar, backing vocals
Steve Vanlaningham - guitar
Jerry Wiggins - drums
Tom Stevens - bass, backing vocals
An extremely hard to find record. Recorded in one week during August 1976 at Uncle Dirty's Sound Machine, Kalamazoo, MI. A counterfeit European "reissue" of this LP was available on Breeder (RPR 001-lC-560) in 1986. An Italian CD issue, also unauthorized, was released on the Flash label (Flash 51) in 1997.
The condition of the vinyl is a strong VG++ to almost NM. Looks like it was played once at the most. Now the jacket on the other hand is a different story. Shows plenty of wear with some of the paper missing from the bottom front and back and also has a name written on it. Vinyl is excellent though. If you have any questions please let me know.
Please note all vinyl is visually graded. Grading is vinyl/jacket.

This north Indiana outfit ruled the roost in the “Michiana” region in the mid-’70s, attracting huge crowds whenever they played live. Often compared with Led Zeppelin, this 5-piece outfit rocked the area with a tight and raw sound that combined in-your-face hard rock with undisguised psychedelic tendencies and lashings of fuzz. It must be said the boys didn’t do themselves any favours by issuing their only known album with a cover reminiscent of a Journey photo shoot, but regardless of their dubious hair and sense of dress, Magi certainly deserved more than the obscurity into which they ultimately lapsed. Win Or Lose, recorded at Uncle Dirty’s Sound Machine studios in Michigan in 1976, and which boasts a series of solid songs propelled by a tight rhythm section and some more-than respectable vocals, is always reviewed enthusiastically: “superb heavy rock fuzz spectacular with some psych feel” “ rare Led Zep-like masterpiece of killer ro c k ” “hard rockin ’ with a psych edge that makes it totally unique”
