Tracks: Fitiavantsika Saiky Nosomparana / Raha Ny Rano Nantsakaina
Extremely rare disc from Madagascar from 1931, though I am not certain if it was recorded in Paris for the Exposition (as many were that year) or in Madagascar. Either way, lovely male/female singing in a group, and also a duo on one side, accompanied by piano. Has that inexpressible Malagasy style to it. The first commercial Malagasy recordings were in 1930, so this is quite early.
Titles translate roughly to "Our Love That Was Almost Destroyed" and "If the Water Was Drawn."
Condition: E / E+ (terrific)
I will be selling a lot of discs over the coming weeks - please check back in.
