WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS: If you have a question on orders received, please contact us. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. When leaving Feedback, please consider the following: eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5 reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities. SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.
As always, thank you for your support!
MINTY CLEAN 1968 ORIGINAL WITH THICK BOOKLET !
The Bonzo Dog Band
The Urban Spaceman
...USA - Imperial Records - LP 12434
Really hard to find this 1968 first pressing in such clean minty condition...complete with the thick booklet in the thick gatefold cover, all superior, by far, to the UK issue of the same...
Titled in the US by their surprise hit "Urban Spaceman" it's essentially the (almost) the same album as the UK version titled "The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse" only way better packaging with the US issue (as mentioned at the opening above) and the UK version does not have their most famous song "Urban Spaceman" (included on this US version)
...The Bonzo Dog Band follow the madness that was Gorilla with the sheer lunacy that is The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse – except this time there's more emphasis on the music and the band appear to have lost a Doo Dah along the way. There's no doubt The Bonzos have been influenced by developments in the normal music world, with elements of psychedelia now being thrown into the mix. But all musical styles remain grist to The Bonzos' satirical mill.
The album opens with the questionably titled "We Are Normal". The track eventually bursts into full blown psych but before that there's an interlude where new bassist Joel Druckman went out into the streets with a roving microphone to ask passersby whether they considered themselves normal. He was accompanied in the task by Viv Stanshall wearing underpants and a rabbit's head. It's testament to the British public's stoicism that this seems to cause little undue concern.
And, oh by the way, let's get one thing straight; The Bonzos may have been a novelty band but they certainly knew how to write a good tune. "Postcard" recalls childhood reminiscences of trips to the seaside and is performed in a old timey style: "Bored with Bingo, we went for a swim. Fat sea cows with gorgonzola skin. Semi-nude!". And "Beautiful Zelda" – which is probably the best song on the album – is an alien love story. Equally good are the hilarious "Can Blue Men Sing The Whites", "Humanoid Boogie" and "Rockalizer Baby" while "My Pink Half Of The Drainpipe" is quite brilliant in its imagery of neighbourly gossip and differences: "My pink half of the drainpipe, I may paint it blue. My pink half of the drainpipe keeps me safe from you."
