...CUBY's BLUES  includes killer tracks dating back to 1966 when they were garagey/punk blues, in ranks along with the Dutch Outsiders, and on through to 1969 with smokey moody blues rockers highlighted by sizzling guitar injections ...there are UNRELEASED tracks as well, making this album, not only essential for the unique tracking selection, but for the rare tracks involved as well....

Cuby and the Blizzards (mostly referred to as C+B or Cuby + Blizzards) are one of the longest lasting Dutch bands and the most successful blues rock greats the country has ever sprouted, headed by dynamic vocalist Harry Muskee and thrilling expressive guitarist Eelco Gelling ...

In 1965, C + B released their first single for the Dutch CNR label, “Stumble And Fall”, in a raucous R&B style reminiscent of the early Rolling Stones. They were then picked up by Phonogram Records and recorded a couple of R&B/freakbeat singles, some of which reached the lower regions of the charts.

Cuby & the Blizzards breakthrough came when they released their first album, “Desolation”, late 1966, which contained a lot of blues numbers spiced with a garagey beat/rock edge such as “Five Long Years” and  “Hobo Blues”.  In March 1967, the Blizzards backed Van Morrison on a tour of The Netherlands (with C+B opening the show). Morrison would leave for the USA after this tour and asked the amazing BLIZZARDS guitarist Eelco Gelling to join him, but the latter declined. Rumours abound that John Mayall considered Gelling as a replacement for Peter Green in The Bluesbreakers. The Prime years of Cuby & the Blizzards are 1966 thru 1969 of which this amazing album covers...Cuby & The Blizzards albums during this period are highly praised and sought, getting more expensive by the moment...

CONDITION The gatefold cover: Top M- nicely laminated, beautifully preserved, there are no bends, no split seams, no writing...one of the *best* copies seen in many years...the back cover mentions "compatable for mono" (record players) ...

The Vinyl: Both albums, all 4 sides are beautiful M- clean and clear with CLEAN Philips labels. A better copy would be hard to believe....
