Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. LOOKS and PLAYS GREAT!  HIGHLY SOUGHT !

  • MINT CLEAN VINYL

  • Includes the original printed inner sleeve

1968 ORIGINAL classic psychedelia that reflects the golden age of the West Coast psych scene, complete with female/male vocal harmonies amid acid guitar and haunting melodies...rated real high by collectors of the genre...one of our favorites...

    • ILL WIND were clearly a hippie psych sound as opposed to a rock garage band.

    • Heavily influenced by West Coast Psych, Ill Wind sounded more Los Angeles than Boston , although they belong to the Boston Sound of 1968 (along with Beacon Street Union and Ultimate Spinach). Ill Wind tastefully perform a mix of electric folk & acid rock that fits perfectly between Jefferson Airplane, Neighb'rhood Childr'n and Peanut Butter Conspiracy in sound. ILL WIND has a dark, edgy sound with great moody fuzz guitar work creeping throughout the music especially on the fragile, haunting " Sleep", "Dark World", "People of the Night", "Walking and Singing", "Hung Up Chick", and the ominous, Monkish chanting "Full Cycle".

  • THE "FAN MAN" weighs in :
  • A real gem from the end of the 60s - musicians and composers of great talent and skills. At the same time another ill-fated act, ruined by record industry, which otherwise should be on the very top - I don't think that my humble opinion counts, but "Ill Wind" is far superior to "Jefferson Airplane" (I am a lawful admirer of "Jefferson", but "Wind" is still better in many aspects).
The band started in 1965 in Cambridge, MA, by two graduates - Ken Frankel (biophysics) and Carey Mann (math), who were joined by folk duo of Judy Bradbury and Norm Gan.In 1965/66 the music drifted from pure entertainment of R&R and beat towards rock and psychedelia, and "Ill Wind" perfectly fit in it with their unique mixture of psychedelia and acid-folk. By that time the original singer Judy Bradbury (who helped to shape the sound of the band) quit to be replaced by another ex-folky - Conny Devanney - a singer p a r e x c e l l e n c e with chrystal clear voice.

  • ILL WIND went through hard times (they couldn't get jobs because they played their own songs and refused to play covers, and they looked and dressed too "hippies" to be generally accepted). However, "Ill Wind" was gigging non-stop in the college circuit and built a solid following, finally becoming a resident act in "Boston Tea Party" (which was New England's response to the rock shrine of "Fillmore" in San Francisco). "Ill Wind" recorded few demos for Capitol (before being dropped by the label) and ended up signed by ABC. In 1968 "Ill Wind" had played with the wide range of top musicians from Chuck Berry to The Who, thus there were many fans waiting for their debut album - which was properly delayed by label, misproduced, artwork ruined, and the label didn't manufacture enough copies to satisfy the demands
