Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

MEGA RARE MONO 1966 ORIGINAL ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS
..
... A Quick One
FRANCE - POLYDOR/INTERNATIONAL RECORDS - 657 117 (MONO)
EXCEEDINGLY-RARE ... 1966 MONO SONG MIXES ... the very first print housed in laminated cover with flapback seams which was the method UK & Europe manufactured their covers in the sixties.
The LP was titled "HAPPY JACK" in the USA with some minor cover & song listing changes
The MONO song mixes offer bold & punchy addition to the overall production and decidely surpass the stereo edition for that reason.
The Who were such a great singles band in the 1960s that their pre-_Tommy_ albums often get overlooked. A Quick One is a case in point. The original ten song version of the album didn't include any of their hits, but is full of great Who songs like Townshend's underrated "So Sad About Us" and "Run Run Run", Entwistle's brilliant "Boris The Spider", and even credible contributions from Daltrey and Moon. Plus the amazing title track, a mini-rock opera, which to me is ten times more entertaining than Tommy.
Original sleeve design and illustration by Alan Aldridge.
The Who’s second album was produced by Kit Lambert and released on UK Reaction Records & France Polydor Records in December 1966
In the USA it was held back until May 1967 and retitled HAPPY JACK (Decca DL 4892 [mono], DL 74892 [stereo]), partly because the HAPPY JACK single had been a minor hit for The Who there, reaching number 24 the same month, and partly because their US record company objected to the double meaning in the title. To make room for the hit single, the American album lost HEAT WAVE.
1. RUN RUN RUN

3. I NEED YOU
(Moon)
Recorded at Pye Studios, October 1966 Keith’s first ever composition for The Who, and one of very few he contributed to their catalogue.

(Entwistle)
Recorded at CBS Studios, London, October 1966
5. HEAT WAVE
Recorded at IBC Studios, August 1966
This was the first of two versions of the Martha & The Vandellas hit recorded by The Who.

9. SO SAD ABOUT US
(Townshend)
Recorded at IBC Studios, September 1966
This song was originally recorded by The Merseys that same year as their second single and it was later covered by The Jam in 1978.
10. A QUICK ONE (Townshend)
Recorded at IBC Studios, Pye and Regent Sound, London, in the autumn of 1966 Pete’s first rock opera contains six separate songs, HER MAN’S BEEN GONE, CRYING TOWN, WE HAVE A REMEDY, IVOR THE ENGINE DRIVER, SOON BE HOME and YOU ARE FORGIVEN. John Entwistle: “We wanted to put ‘cellos on the track but Kit Lambert said we couldn’t afford it. That’s why we sing ‘cello, cello, cello, cello,’… where we thought they should be.”
