Description
It’s a pleasure to offer this fine example of the much-sought-after MONO original U.K. pressing of the Beatles’ legendary “White Album”, Apple PMC 7067/8. The set includes the top-opening gatefold sleeve, which bears the low number 82797; both black inners; and the poster; all in excellent condition.
Sleeve:
- G&L, top-opening No. 0082797
- Clean, shiny and solid, among the better examples
- Genuine mono edition (no “Stereo” text on the back)
- Slight cream tint
- Numeric text has faded a little, but clearly readable
- Inside is lovely, with clean, solid flipbacks
- Opening edges hardly feathered at all; corners are sharp with barely any bumping
- Comments: There are a couple of short, light creases at the spine and a couple of tiny spots in the laminate; a very minor disc impression; and on close inspection it appears someone once used the LP as a writing surface as a short bit of writing impression remains. These are, however, only visible at a particular light reflection angle and in no way detract from the beauty of this excellent cover!
Spine:
- Very lightly creased; slight cracking and a small area worn area to the laminate
- Text remains clearly visible
Black Inners:
- Generally flat and unwrinkled
- Opening edges show some wear and crinkling
- One die-cut center hole has a couple of 1-inch tears; the other is only lightly worn
- Three of the non-opening edges have 4-5-inch splits
Poster:
- Near-mint but for some light brown spotting
- Only minor handling indications
- Folds are solid but for very short (less than 1 inch) separations at the edges and tiny wear-through at fold corners
Discs (visual):
- G+ to VG for various scuffs, hairlines, and needle drags
- Lovely, dark green labels have the “Sold in UK...” text; no “EMI Recording”; no tax code stamps
- Sides 2 and 4 labels show sticker remnants (see pictures)
- Stamper codes 1-HR, 3-HH, 2-TR, 8-GDD
Discs (play-grade):
- Generally VG to VG+
- Areas of G+ for opening groove crackle, light surface noise, and a few clicks from needle drags
- Comments: The variation in grade is somewhat subjective, but there were no skips on my equipment and they definitely play better than they appear.
