Description
From the archives of a noted Australian rock music and entertainment historian comes this piece of classic rock music history. The Love Machine EP. Australian pressing. 1969. Festival. FX-11592. Black Diamonds interest. In 1968, and two innovative garage singles into their career, the Black Diamonds relocated to Sydney, lost their bassist and renamed themselves Tymepiece. Around this time, producer Pat Aulton approached them to record a version of The Lion Sleep Tonight as a promotion for the newly-opened African Lion Safari park on the outskirts of Sydney. For this track, Tymepiece (AKA The Black Diamonds), were renamed Love Machine. The band then went back to their old name while Aulton used other, unknown, musicians, to record a few other Love Machine tracks, all collected on this EP. However, one track, The Lion Sleep Tonight, is most of the original line-up of The Black Diamonds. Record in Good Plus condition, scratches and marks, crackles on quieter passages, pen marks on label. Picture sleeve in Very Good Plus condition, ring wear. SHIPPING: Owing to problems with international shipping, all international packages will now be sent Express Air Mail (with the exception of New Zealand). I’d also prefer to fully insure the higher-valued purchases, which means the correct value would be noted on the customs form (some buyers, from countries that levy customs duty, have been reluctant to do this in the past). However, this is something we can negotiate post-auction; for New Zealanders buyers, Standard Air Mail will be fine. If buyers want to forgo claiming a refund on damaged goods (check my feedback and you’ll see I pack EXTREMELY well), then that’s up to them. Check my other auctions for rarities and extremities including RARE 1960s and 70s Australian, UK and US rock, garage and R&B singles, LPs, TEST PRESSINGS and ACETATES and so much more.
