Spirit of Sound has recently acquired a number of single owner 78rpm Album Sets. The original owner, an amateur swing jazz musician, resided in the Cleveland, Ohio area and had an opportunity to see live in concert some of the great Jazz performers of the 30s and 40s. We have a signed copy of a Louis Armstrong set that you will have an opportunity to bid on. When the original owner died recently, the set was handed down to a son and, subsequently, on to Spirit of Sound. Most of theses sets are in prime condition! Bid with confidence!
Louis Armstrong and his hot 5, Columbia (C-57) 78rpm 4 disc Album Set. Album No. 10 in a series of re-issues of the original records that made jazz history. 1940s re-issue of original 1925-26 sessions. This one signed by Louis! Family history suggests that this authentic signature (check Louis' flare against any other signature of his) may have been given at the Crooked Lake Hotel outside Troy, New York, where the original owner sometimes performed and many of the Jazz greats of the era passed through and performed as well. These sessions feature Louis on cornet, Kid Ory on trombone, Johnny Dodds on clarinet, L'il Armstrong on piano and Johnny St. Cyr on banjo. Songs include; 'Gut Bucket Blues', 'Yes! I'm In the Barrel', 'Muskrat Ramble', 'Skid-Dat-De-Dat', 'Cornet Chop Suey', 'My Heart', 'You're Next' and 'Oriental Strut'. Records are in EX condition, clean, shiny with little wear, minor sleevewear on one disc. Labels are clean, clear, with very little wear. Album jacket is solid, intact with light wear on corners and edges. Spine is in EX condition. Louis' signature is on inside front cover, clear with no fading. Exciting very nice copy!
