I couldn't put it any better than it was put by John Pareles of the New York Times in Frank Zappa's obituary:
Frank Zappa,
Musical Iconoclast, Guitarist and Restless Innovator
- This is a personal collection of 20 used LPs whose discs are all in Good to Excellent condition as are the Jackets.
- Two albums, Lumpy Gravy and Cruising with Ruben and the Jets are "cut-outs" and have holes punched in the jackets.
- All LPs have been kept in protective sleeves, though many still have their original sleeves as well. We're Only In It for the Money contains the "cardboard cut-outs" insert from the original issue in near-Mint condition (one corner slightly wrinkled).
- You'll note that one LP features Frank Zappa as producer rather than artist, but, rest assured, his mitts all over it. This auction comes with a copy of Trout Mask Replica, by Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, an album to which most Zappa fans need no introduction.
- Two albums, Burnt Weeny Sandwich and Uncle Meat, I have in duplicate but as different pressings under different labels. Each of these albums have both an original, blue Bizarre label and a brown Reprise label, used for the re-issue. For some reason the brown labels seem to be more highly prized than the original, blue, Bizarre label.
- Please note that Valley Girl is a 12" Single @45rpm.
- Finally, not so much as a record but as (almost) a folk-art artifact. Included is a Bootleg LP that's a partial recording of a live collaboration between the Mothers of Invention along with Zubin Mehta and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The jacket and label for this record are completely hand drawn/collaged and stand as a testament to the devotion Frank's fans felt. But, as part of the package, it's yours. I think it's kinda cool m'self though, not because of its quality as a recording.
