A cornerstone of spiritual jazz‑funk, Expansions remains one of Lonnie Liston Smith’s most influential works — a cosmic blend of electric keys, hypnotic grooves and uplifting vocal textures. Originally released in 1975, the album became a defining moment in the fusion of jazz, funk and soul‑conscious spirituality.

This 2020 BGP / Flying Dutchman gatefold reissue (HIQLP067) restores the album with warm analogue clarity, showcasing the full Cosmic Echoes lineup including Cecil McBee, Donald Smith, Art Gore and David Hubbard. A must‑have for jazz‑funk collectors and crate‑diggers.
