Description
This came from my father’s vast estate of classical records and reference books. He particularly loved Wagner (I never acquired the ear for him myself). I found this 1960s-ish London FFrr recording of the full Ring cycle with Georg Solti conducting the Vienna Philharmonic and featuring some of the biggest names in Wagnerian opera including Flagstadt, Nilsson, Niedlinger, Windgassen, Ludwig, and more. I believe there are 19 LPs in this set, but will only verify the contents as follows: •Der Ring Des Nibelingen: Unsealed, 3 records with jackets and booklet in original box; the binding is broken on the box, so that it fully detaches when opened; otherwise all are in excellent condition•Das Rheingold: Unsealed, contains 5 records with jackets and booklet in original box; all in excellent condition•Die Walkure: Unsealed, contains 3 records with jackets and booklet in original box; all in excellent condition•Siegfried: Sealed, never opened•Gotterdammerung: Sealed, never opened•John Culshaw’s “Reflections on Wagner’s Ring”. The is a 105-page hardcopy book by the man who pioneered the recording of this set. I am not sure if it came with the set originally, but it certainly makes sense to sell it with the set. The jacket of the book has a small tear in the front cover and there is an unmarked book plate affixed to the inside cover. Otherwise the book is in excellent condition.
