The first time I ever saw Lois Jane was on television. I don’t remem- ber where. We were checked in some town and she was on a program I just happened to tune in. I called the rest of my group in their rooms and told them to listen to her. She must have been only 12 or 13 years old and I thought she had the smoothest voice I had ever heard. She took that mike and ever more put that song across. Two things we dis- cussed about her, one, she had to be raised up in this kind of music and she had the hand of God on her. It came through then and it comes through now. Later we met her. We were on a program with her somewhere. We loved her instantly. What I’m going to tell you now is the truth with my hand up. We were out in Texas and ole Geraldine got sick. We had to fly her home and they put her in the hospital and put something in or took some- thing out, I don’t remember which. I get her operations and Little Jan's mixed up, but that don’t matter, they whacked on her anyway. We were caught with no singer. We thought of Lois Jane and said she is professional enough to learn a few of our songs quick and maybe it will just work if she will do it. We called the next day and she met us in Tennessee. We had to work that night so I said let’s just learn a few songs to get us through. She said. “Here is a list of songs you do”. She handed me about 20 songs and said, “I can do Jenny’s part or Jan’s part on any of these, and you better believe she did. Alto, lead, barytone,you name it she could do it. She is one of the greatest people I’ve ever known. She traveled with us for two months and was great. Still the greatest thing about Lois Jane is her dedication to God. Maybe that’s why she is so good at her job. Usually when I write a backliner people expect it to be funny since that’s my bag. This, however, is something I’ve been wanting to say for a long time about Lois Jane. Buy this record and you won’t get snake bit. I guarantee it.
