I Don’t Want to Discuss It b/w Hurry Sundown
Columbia DB 8263, 1967
In the mid-sixties Little Richard swung between his devotion to the church and his reinvention as an excellent soul singer. This track was released in the USA on Okeh and was originally included on the Explosive Little Richard album which was produced by Larry Williams and featured Johnny “Guitar” Watson in the backing band.
I Don’t Want to Discuss It is an uptempo Motown-style dancer that has always been popular on the Northern Soul scene. This UK issue on Columbia is much more difficult to find than imported copies of the US pressing. This example has a few surface scratches but plays really very well. The labels to both sides are bright and clean with no writing.
