Baron Elmo Enterprises proudly presents a full-bore assault on your delicate sensibilities, a one-two punch to the gut from punk/noise gurus LIGHTNING BOLT: the insanely rare vinyl edition of their self-titled debut album, released in 1999 by the Load label. Here’s where it began for this most crazed of rock duos, a heavenly tsumami of white-hot intensity unleashed through the earthly vessels of Brian Gibson (electric bass), and Brian Chippendale (drums, screaming). How these two mere mortals summon up such an unholy din is a mystery worthy of the sages… but summon it they do, and there ain’t much else the listener can do but lay back against the ropes and take his punishment with a smile. They’ve refined their approach over the last few albums, but this first shot to the head is the one you want for a taste of this dynamic duo at their rawest and most primal. The vinyl edition of this lp was ridiculously limited, pressed when LB were virtual unknowns… and it comes housed in a gorgeous screened folder/cover that looks so great and feels so nice in your hands (even smells good) that you might end up shedding a tear of joy whenever you pull it out for a spin.
