Mastered from the original master tapes. Recorded September 29, 1957 at Van Gelder Studios, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with Pepper Adams, Bobby Timmons, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones joining Lee Morgan.
"The Cooker" was released on the Blue Note label in January 1958 and released while Morgan was still just nineteen years old. The Cooker was the first album to feature Morgan's own original compositions.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states: "Morgan plays remarkably well for his age (already ranking just below Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis), making this an essential acquisition."
Mastered from the original analog tapes at Cohearent Audio. Manufactured at Record Technology Inc. (RTI) on audiophile 180 gram vinyl. The LP is housed in deluxe gatefold packaging.
