FYI this Double LP was purchased in 1971 upon its' release.  The Live work was recorded over 3 days in July of 1970

Vinyl Graded:  Excellent.   Plays like Near Mint Record.  There are some paper scuffs.  No hairlines.  This might grade NM or Mint Minus, however, we we do not think it proper to use 'Mint' aka 'Like New' for record that is 46 years old.   Album part of private collection all of these years. It was lightly played over the years...most of them spent in storage.
Sleeve Graded  Very Good Minus - the 'Minus' is for the 2-3 inch split in bottom seam of  front sleeve, and about 1 inch split bottom of back sleeve. This is a gatefold album.  Please see pics.  Ring wear is obvious, and edges are rough.

.....Morgan's music had become much more modal by this time, heavily influenced by John Coltrane... Benny Maupin (on tenor, bass clarinet and flute) is in peak form and the rhythm section (pianist Harold Mabern, Jymie Merritt, and drumer Mickey Roker) is alert and creative.  All of the songs are group originals....Stimulating and frequently exciting music from late in Lee Morgan's short life. 
The 4 long tracks recorded on the Original Album issue offered here represented quite a change in Morgan's musical language.  Extremely interesting, for us, to listen to stretches of 'hard bop' with Maupin and Morgan on sidelines while Mabern, Merritt and Roker carry the music.  Mabern is terrific.  There is consistency in his sound from 1970 that can be heard in later works from the 1990's with DIW, Japan and the 2000's with Venus Records. We understand that several other songs were recorded by Blue-Note during this gig at the Lighthouse in July/1970 that are more in the way of the 'straight-ahead' jazz that Morgan fans had become accustomed to.  This Double LP has tremendous energy.  We know that many great fans of Morgan's work, never truly embraced this album as they had albums such as ''The Sidewinder" "The Gigolo" to name but two of the albums that preceded this.   We never felt this way.  This is superb music!!  The music on this album most certainly seemed  to represent the opening of a new chapter in Morgan's recordings.
