Description
I was a picky (somewhat snobby) album collector. An engineering student back then, I also managed a record store and helped roadie a band. James Brown came in where I worked (often, promoting a new 45.) Salesman introduced us to John Denver before his first hit. I met B.B. King, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, Savoy Brown, Ten Years After, got to pick up Brand X's Percy Jones at Airport for a concert, had a backstage beer with Joe Walsh, saw Hendrix, Joplin, Iron Butterfly, Byrds, Bonzo Dog, Cocker, Captain Beefheart, Spirit, Creedence, Jefferson Airplane, King Crimson, The Flock, Renaissance, Crosby, Soft Machine, Mothers, Procol Harum, Santana, BS&T, Corea, Vitous, Pastorius, Methany, Weather Report, Miles Davis, Zawinul, Gentle Giant, Dylan, Pink Floyd, Landreth, Sting, Talking Heads, Dandy Warhols, Traffic, Stones, Satriani, Vanilla Fudge, Porcupine Tree, and many others... some several times. Some bands came over to our in-house studio in 1969 & 1970 (Hampton Grease Band & New York Rock & Roll Ensemble- many others I don't remember.) The point? I really like music! As an uppity music snob, I didn't keep Promos of "the common stuff." I mostly collected Jazz, Progressive/ fusion rock, Avant-Gard, Classical, or perhaps an LP that was well engineered or otherwise notable. I hate letting this stuff go, but I is old now and would like to see these recordings go to someone who will appreciate them (rather than them "goin' to the curb" after I pass...) Anyhow, after protecting these LPs for 40+ years, now it's your turn! Thanks, and enjoy!
