Description
On offer here is a rare, 1st press copy of the Led Zeppelin classic album Led Zeppelin iv. The record is in overall very good condition.
The gatefold outer is the original thick card, matt finish issue and has some minor corner and edge wear, the spine is complete but is scuffed at the top and bottom. There is a ring mark on the back cover. The lyric inner sleeve is open on one side where the glue has come away and has a split on the bottom seam. The top right corner is torn off on the track listing side.
The vinyl is very good, I have played it through and there are no skips or jumps anywhere. There are a few 'pops' during 'Going to California' but the record does not stick or jump. Apart from that, there is only the low crackling sometimes present that is associated with dust accumulations in the grooves. The record does have visible surface marks but nothing that particularly affects playback. Basically, the record, if given a good clean would likely grade as ex-. It sounds great!
The labels are clean, shiny and clear and are the 2nd variation of the plum and red Atlantic labels. The labels carry the Peter Grant executive producer credit with the band name 'Led Zeppelin' at the foot of the label. The 'feather' symbol on side 2 is the right way up denoting this as the 2nd label variant. The matrix numbers are 2401012 A//3 and 2401012 B//3 denoting this as a 1st press, the run offs also carry the engineers 'signatures' Pecko Duck and Porky.
All in all this is a very good 1st press copy of a superb, classic album!
