Description
From my personal collection I am offering one of the first variants from the original pressings of this classic album, released in 1971. For those of you who follow my albums, you will know that I always try to provide sufficient information to ensure that full details are made available for buyer and seller to fully understand what is on offer. If you have any questions, please contact me before bidding for the album.From my extensive research on this particular album I’ve come to the conclusion that my copy is variant eight of the nine initial variants released in 1971.
This conclusion is based on the following criteria specific to this variant:
Marketed by Polydor Records Limited at 6 o’clock on labels.
‘Under license from Atlantic Recording Corp’ in white area under Atlantic on left side.
LED ZEPPELIN is printed above spindle hole.
Catalogue number at 3 o’clock above circular Atlantic logo reads deluxe 240 1012.
There is no Peter Grant credit and song publishing credits are: Kinney Music Limited/Superhype Music Inc.
Track B1 is credited on B side label as Misty Mountain Hop.
The sleeve is a gatefold thick card with sealed left side edge when opened to reveal ‘The Hermit’ drawing. The album is housed in a grey card liner with credits on one side and the lyrics to Stairway to Heaven on the other. The liner still retains the Peter Grant credit on the bottom left side. 

The original labels all had the Atlantic Red/White/Plum labels. As always I have play graded the album to check on the quality of the vinyl. There are no pops, clicks or scratches and only the expected low level of surface noise for an album that is now fifty four years old. The dynamics of the original pressing still provide a superb sound stage thanks to the production by Jimmy Page. The labels are totally unmarked and there is very little spindle wear.

The gatefold sleeve still retains its original quality with no marks or falls and an undamaged spine. The inner card sleeve, as with many of my original albums, does have some personal writing providing provenance for the album’s heritage. The condition of the sleeve is also excellent with no tears or creases. The sleeve was replaced with a modern protective sleeve to look after the vinyl. Overall, this is a rare pressing of this iconic album and would make a great addition for any collector of Led Zeppelin albums. Thank you for looking.
