Description

An original 1st press of Zep IV on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A3/B4. The labels are the fully corrected version which would have been available for purchase at Xmas-1971. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Note that on the rear of the cover we have an Atlantic sticker noting the new Atlantic cataloguing that Kinney were rolling out at Xmas 1971. We also have the 1st issue lyric inner sleeve with flipbacks exposed and four credits at the foot. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg+) In very nice condition despite a moderate level of use. Do expect a few light marks either side and a couple of superficial trails - nothing heavy that's going to feature in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback with one deviation. By and large a very decent player with not too much to complain at. Ok, it's not going to hit the top grades, but it is a more than accomplished rendition and should interest someone who really wants an original red & plum copy without breaking the bank. I found all tracks to play well with only a bit of light static noticeable occasionally in a couple of tracks per side [e.g. California].The only deviation I detected was a few clicks in the first section of 'Evermore'. Even Stairway played reasonably clean which is not always the case. There's nothing that would put me off playing this copy - it was a solid performer. It won't suit the ultra-purists, but for someone requiring a decent level copy from this sought after 1st press...it's very much worthy of serious consideration.
Cover (VG+) In great shape and, again, no serious faults to report. A very nice and clean front with a sticker removal mark in the top right corner. The rear looks equally good with no creasing or signs of surface wear. The interior is pretty much spot on. Edge wear is relatively light and the spine looks ok with light wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) A one inch bottom edge split. 2 X 1c.m. side edge splits.
