<<50th Anniversary>>
An original 1st press of Zep IV on Red & Plum from the time of release. Matrix A3/B3 - 1st available cut. Please note whilst this is the earliest available cut for Zep IV - the label is not necessarily the earliest variant to be obtained. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover. There's also the original textured inner with exposed flipbacks. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. I can make out a couple of light marks per side. There's a slight trail/mark early on side 2 - I have tested this [fully] and it does just sound but only VERY slightly [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with only a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. No kidding - this is a CRACKING copy. What I like about it is it has only seen relatively light use. This copy is capable of delivering the goods on Zep IV. The red & plum copies are famed for fantastic audio - and this copy has it in spades. So, if you care about Zep IV and want a top copy - you need to take a close look a this one. I have heard a few superb copies of Zep IV - and you know what...this is not far off the best of the crop. It's got the power and energy to do this title justice - but a quiet background so those fussy numbers don't get spoilt. 'California' plays real sweet - cleaner than you typically find [nothing worse than a couple of crackles in a couple of spots]..Evermore - is really playing very clean...about as good as you can hope for in terms of clean signal [just one isolated tick in Evermore and Stairway]. Stairway plays really clean signalled - most copies just do not perform to this level [a couple of minor crackles in a couple of spots early on]. The only vaguest issue is in 'Mountain Hop'. That mark mentioned above causes a couple of ticks. To be honest - Zep are absolutely ripping it up at this point and you'll probably have to concentrate to even spot it! Ending on Levee...E-p-i-c!!! Given the rest of the LP plays so darn well - no issue whatsoever really. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) In super condition. Clean front and rear with just very slightest signs of ageing. The interior looks absolutely superb. Let me assure you that most original copies do not look like that inside! A touch of edge wear in the odd spot - nothing remotely troublesome. The spine looks above average with minimal wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Nice clean surfaces. A couple of edge splits. But I have taped them up internally. Small internal tape repair at opening. Overall...very tidy.
