An early Zep IV that plays great...and doesn't cost the earth. When you listen to a copy like this which is high quality and, in reality,, close to the original masters..it does beg the question,,,. Why would you ever pay more than £50 for a great original ZepIV! Well worth taking a closer look I'd say.>>>
This Zep IV copy comes from Q1 1972 - immediately after the last red & plum copies. A copy like this makes for an excellent compromise for someone looking for some early magic - without having to shell out major $$$$ Note - labels do not mention Warners in the perimeter and text is all found in the southern half of the label - these are the 1st orange and green copies. Matrix in the deadwax refers to the original plum catalogue number and original Porkie cut A3/B4. Essentially you have the audio from a Red&Plum -- without the outlay! The HEAVY_SET vinyl comes housed in an original early gatefold cover. THERE IS NO ORINAL INNER>. If you thought Zep were good...take a listen, here, because you will hear first hand how Zep were not good - but were truly Epic!
Vinyl (Ex+) Really well preserved and has only seen lightest use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing reveals a consistent EXCELLENT+ level of playback without reservation. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Stairway PLAYS CLEAN....absolutely perfect....which is not something you can often say. Nine out of ten original copies never manage that. Always THE most difficult tracks to find playing perfectly clean. The same is true of California too...this track is mega fussy. Highly recommended. Well worth the money to get you close to those original OCT71 masters. If you are someone who really needs those acoustic numbers to play perfect...well worth taking a closer look at this one. Guaranteed to match ANY red and plum copy.
Cover (Vg/Vg-) In acceptable condition and no better. Really - with this copy it's all about the vinyl and audio. The cover is fine as a stop gap. But you'd probably want to upgrade a later juncture. The interior looks lovely!. But there's lots off edge wear and a couple o wear-throughs that have been internally repaired. Spine has a 1 inch repair in the middle and pleanty of wear.
