Description
Hello there bidders!
This is my new account that I have set up primarily for vinyl records. I will be listing my fathers rather rare records other the next week so come and grab some rare wax!!
You can bid with absolute confidence as I describe with total honesty with as many pictures as possible.
I know what it is like to get an over graded record turning up 2 weeks late, but that is not the service you will receive here. I am a true lover of vinyl and this passion will be transferred to the security of your records!!
So enough of that and on to the record in hand!
Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin III
UK 1st Pressing
1970
2401-002
Atlantic
Stereo
Here we have one of the best Zeppelin records of all time, and certainly one of the hardest to find Atlantic Red/Plum labels!
The record was released in October 1970.
This record we have here is quite a rarity for certain reasons. It is the second run of the first presses, so has the hand etched “Do what thou Wilt” and “So Mote it Be” in the dead wax of side 1 and 2 respectively. It has the first press Red/Plum labels also, but being the second run it has the matrix endings A5 & B7 (both hand etched).
This 1st press was the last of the Led Zeppelin iii Red and Plums just before the catalogue number swapped over. For that reason Atlantic used a series of 1st press German made sleeves before reprinting the UK sleeve.
All that makes it quite a rare pressing in itself but what is also very rare about this record is the misprint of “Celebration Day” which just reads “Celebration” on the label!

Side 2: 1 2 7 So Mote it be GHC
Sleeve Condition.
The very 1st press Made in Germany laminated outer sleeve with the fully working wheel is in near perfect condition! There are no rips, tear, writing, stains or ring wear to mention. The spine is perfectly straight with only a light crease and all text is fully readable. The edges are nice and sharp with only minimal corner shelf wear. The inside is in fantastic condition also! Stunning!
Excellent ++
Label Condition.
The 1st press UK Red and Plum Atlantic labels are in stunning condition. There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention. There is no centre hole damage at all. Under a strong light, only one or two invisible spindle line can be seen! It’s clear to see that this record has not been overplayed!
Nr Mint
Inner Condition.
The original 1st press “patent” inner sleeve with the blue text is in beautiful condition with only some mild discolouring to mention. There are no rips, stains, writing or splits. The code 1070 is present which refers to the release date of October 1970
Excellent +
Vinyl Visual Condition.
The record looks great! It has that “just pressed” look with no dulling, scratches or warping of any sort! It still retains its factory shine and lustre. Even under a strong halogen, just some random wispy hairlines can be seen! It’s a really nice clean copy that won’t disappoint!
Very Good ++
Vinyl Audio Condition.
The record sounds really great! There are no jumps, skips or nasty distortion at all! I heard only a few clicks from start to finish, even at full volume! It’s a crystal, sharp and bouncy sound throughout! There was just a little static on the run ins and between tracks as is to be expected. The dynamics of the band are utterly superb and easily separable. A really great sounding piece of wax!
Excellent
So there we have it. A true rare misprinted 1st press Zeppelin classic with a near perfect sleeve with fully working wheel!!
An Utter Rarity!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Happy Bidding
All my records will be sent first class, signed for and insured to their value!
I will package the records with extreme care, with hard stiffeners and the vinyl separate to the sleeve and inner, all housed in a Defenda lock tab record box envelope.
I try to be as honest as I can in my descriptions, taking as many pictures as possible, but if you don’t feel happy with your purchase, I offer no quibble full refunds as soon as the record is sent back. I will not give partial refunds however, only full. I think this is fair, Thanks!

Over the next month I will be listing my Fathers record collection. He was an avid collector who amassed a pretty huge collection that I will be offering all at 99p starts! I shall be listing No Emi Harvests, 1st press Beatles, Pink Islands and loads of other rarities!
They are mostly in near perfect condition with my dad putting most on tape in the 80’s, then once again onto CD in the 90’s, and since they have been sat unplayed and always in plastic covers! , so stay tuned if you’re interested in some good old rare wax!
