TRUE 1ST UK PRESS (OCTOBER 1970) WITH MISPRINTED RED/PLUM LABELS

This is the true first pressing and most certainly made from the earliest generation of mother stampers. Thick, Heavy vinyl pressing and guaranteed to be 100% authentic and in immaculate condition as well. This release has cat # 2401002 and credits printed to the right when gatefold is open. labels have a consistant cat # (slightly later uk pressings have a dash between the numbers) with the labels stating executive producer: peter grant which was removed from all later labels. due to the high demand for this album most sleeves were imported from germany and have credits and the us cat # to the left inside the gf as well as on the front. very few were uk printed and fewer has survived the 40+ years since released.

This is a stock first stamper generation pressing and is graded very conservative between excellent++/NM and mint- (see below for detailed description) according to Record Collector’s grading scale. I feel that when grading it is my true belief not to overgrade or by any way exaggerate the condition and I offer a 100% money back guarantee if not satisfied with the quality – never accept overgraded junk. 

PLAYGRADE:

intro to 'immigrant song' is almost dead quiet and all musical layers are very clear and powerful with little or none tics. the playback of the aucoustic parts (that reveals a fine copy from a superb) is very solid and almost crisp clear, very little background hiss but remember that this is vinyl and not a remastered shm-cd copy. 'since i've been loving you' is often worn out by extensive play but as with the rest of the tracks the original owner seems to have listened to this copy with a high end set up and from side to side, no needle drops or poor cartridge. side 2 is as clear as can be, very faint statics and a magnificent sound that only early thick uk pressings can deliver. absolutely no distortion.

i would grade this overall a ex++/Near Mint- experience (9.0/10.0)

GRADING VISUALLY:

(Side 1) When inspected in broad daylight I can only notice a handful very superficial hairlines, these are probably from careful removal of the disc. Record has a very strong shine to the grooves and the surface looks beautiful. There’s no needledrops, discoloring and certainly not any feelable scratches.

Easily graded Near mint+ (9.2/10.0) if not better.

(Side 2) same high lustre, very shiney and clean.  No needle drops or discoloring.

Heavy, thick and inflexible type of vinyl

LABELS:

Earliest withdrawn red/plum polydor/atlantic uk labels with bright colors and no discoloring. Almost none wear and moderate sign of spindle trails. Close to perfect.

Graded near mint- (9.2/10.0) if not better.

cover:

Very well preserved sleeve, most likely to very little handling and the fact that it's always been stored upright with vinyl seperated from jacket. Spine is straight and square with no crushing or laminate flake, titles are perfectly readable. Corners on spine side are in very good condition as well. Only the slighest sign of minal creases (tiny along spine back and one horizontal lower center). minimal yellowing, grubbiness or dirt. no laminate lifting whatsoever. wheel is perfectly working and most important is that the sleeve is dead flat and not convex which is so very rare to find nowadays. titles/credits to the right when you open up gatefold which confirms that this is a very early uk printed cover by e.j. day group london and bedford. front sleeve has the atlantic deluxe logo and no cat# number like the later german imported versions have.
