Description
For sale is a copy of Led Zeppelin’s third album, Led Zeppelin 3.
This is an original UK 1st Pressing from 1969 which features the sought-after orange & plum Atlantic labels.
The record has the earliest, and rarest, first variation of the Atlantic labels in which Peter Grant is credited as an executive producer on the labels.
Please see below for further details.
Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay as ‘1st Pressing’ when in fact they are not. There are several details which identify this record as a true 1st pressing. They are:
· Gatefold sleeve with matt finish.
· Spinning wheel in the front cover.
· Orange and Plum Atlantic labels on the vinyl.
· ‘2401002’ catalogue number.
· Variation 1 labels with Peter Grant Executive producer credit and Warner Bro. Music Ltd. Publishers credit. *
· Matrix numbers A//7 (side 1) and B//5 (side 2).
*Later editions did not have the Peter Grant credit and the Publisher was changed to Warner Bros.
I try to take pictures which provide a fair representation of the condition of a record and the sleeve. If interested, please read below for a detailed discussion including an audio description.
I use the Goldmine standard as a reference for grading.
Vinyl: Very Good +
The vinyl looks great and plays even better.
The surface retains the original gloss sheen.
The labels are bright and clean and have minimal spindle wear.
There are subtle hairline scuffs which can be picked up in bright light but nothing deep that affects playback.
The audio is extremely clear with great channel separation.
There is very little dust crackle and no skips or jumps.
Sleeve: Excellent
The sleeve is in great condition.
As it is not laminated it is prone to becoming very dirty (especially the white area on the front and back).
This copy is still remarkably clean with very little discolouration.
The corners are sharp and the spine and edges are distinct.
There are no rips, tears or writing present anywhere on the sleeve.
Inner Sleeve: Very Good +
The original die cut inner sleeve is included.
It is slightly discoloured on the top edge but is without any rips or tears.
Also included in the sale is an audiophile quality inner sleeve which provides the best possible protection for the record.
This is a fantastic copy of a seminal album in the history of rock music. This extremely rare pressing would be a great addition to any record collection.
The outer sleeve, vinyl, and inner sleeve are all housed separately within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent within a padded vinyl record mailer.
