Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin II
UK 1st Pressing
22nd October 1969
588198
Atlantic
Stereo
Here we have one of the best and rarest Zeppelin records of all time, and certainly one of the hardest to find Atlantic Red/Plum labels!
The record was released in October 1969.
This is true first press on with the brown unlaminated EJ Day gatefold outer sleeve that bears the track listing error “Livin’ Lovin’ Maid (She’s a Woman)”. This was quickly withdrawn and replaced with the common Livin Lovin Wreck as is read on the label.
The label also has the 1st press error of (shes a woman) rather than (she’s just a woman) as it was on subsequent releases.
Along with the very 1st press outer sleeve, inner sleeve and lowest matrices available, it also bears really low stampers and can be considered the closest available pressing to those legendary sessions!
Matrix Numbers
588 198 A ? 2 & 588 198 B ? 2
Stampers.
Side 1: 1 1 4
Side 2: 1 1 8
Sleeve Condition.
The very 1st press unlaminated outer sleeve is in lovely condition! It is such a fragile design and so often the 1st press sleeves are really badly damaged, but this is really nice clean example. There are no rips, tear, writing, or stains to mention! The spine is perfectly straight with only a light crease and all text is fully readable. There is some minimal shelf wear to the corners and the bottom edge but most edges are still nice and sharp. Other than some slight ring wear to the rear it is a really nice example that won’t disappoint. The inside is in fantastic condition also! Stunning!
Very Good ++
Label Condition.
The 1st press UK Red and Plum Atlantic labels are in stunning condition. There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention. There is no centre hole damage at all. Under a strong light, only one or two invisible spindle line can be seen! It’s clear to see that this record has not been overplayed!
Excellent +
Inner Condition.
The original 1st press “patent” inner sleeve with the blue text is in beautiful condition with only some mild discolouring to mention. There are no rips, stains, writing or splits.
Excellent +
Vinyl Visual Condition.
The record looks great! It has that “just pressed” look with no dulling, scratches or warping of any sort! It still retains its factory shine and lustre. Even under a strong halogen, just some random wispy hairlines can be seen with no deep scratches at all! It’s a really nice clean copy that won’t disappoint!
Very Good +
Vinyl Audio Condition.
The record sounds really great! There are no jumps, skips or nasty distortion at all! I heard only a few clicks from start to finish, even at full volume! It’s a crystal, sharp and bouncy sound throughout! There was just a little static on the run ins and between tracks as is to be expected. Whole Lotta Love sounded amazing and is so often drowned in crackle. It’s a joy to the ears and soul!!
Excellent
So there we have it. A true rare 1st press Zeppelin classic with a really nice sleeve and inner.
As Rare As They Come!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Happy Bidding
All my records will be sent first class, signed for and insured to their value!
I will package the records with extreme care, with hard stiffeners and the vinyl separate to the sleeve and inner, all housed in a Defenda locktab record box envelope.
I try to be as honest as I can in my descriptions, taking as many pictures as possible, but if you don’t feel happy with your purchase, I offer no quibble full refunds as soon as the record is sent back. I will not give partial refunds however, only full. I think this is fair, Thanks!

Over the next month I will be listing my Fathers record collection. He was an avid collector who amassed a pretty huge collection that I will be offering all at 99p starts! I shall be listing No Emi Harvests, 1st press Beatles, Pink Islands and loads of other rarities! They are mostly in near perfect condition with my dad putting most on tape in the 80’s, then once again onto CD in the 90’s, and since they have been sat unplayed and always in plastic covers! , so stay tuned if you’re interested in some good old rare wax!
