Original US 1st pressing on Atlantic Catalog # SD-8236. “RL” in the deadwax on both sides, “SS” on both sides of the deadwax.

This is the famous / infamous Robert (Bob) Ludwig "RL" Super Sound "SS" Hot Mix. 

This is truly the only way to hear this record. 

Compared to any of the later reissues, this mix is far more dynamic, has a huge stereo separation, and packs a punch that no other mix does.  It was so "hot" it was recalled when it was initially released. 

These were withdrawn early because the mix was was just far too bass heavy & dynamic for the low-end turntables of the time. The label withdrew the LP's and released a much tamer & flatter mix, the same mix you will find in your average used copy today. 

Unfortunately, that mix does not do this LP justice, as it just sounds flat in comparison.
