Description

Led Zeppelin II -  Atlantic – SD 8236 - RL/SS Both Sides Ludwig Cuts STERLING HOT MIX 1ST PRESS

As described above, Vinyl is VG; there is moderate general wear, some light scuffs & “hairlines”, one hairline “feelie” that can be barely felt but plays through with a tick towards the end of “Thank You” on side one…Side two in much better shape, plays through fine with light pops & crackles in the quieter parts.. The cover is VG with the nice first series “matte” or “textured ” type finish, light general wear, Broadway address inside gatefold looks pretty good, with some 2” “purfling” at the middle gatefold crease. Both sides on this one sound incredible, with the famous “Ludwig” mix of extra bass, etc.  Also, if you use headphones you can hear all kinds of extra guitar & vocal parts that aren’t as noticeable through standard speakers.. I’ve given this record a full listen, & you can definitely tell it’s a great mix, there are some very light pops, etc. between tracks and during quiet parts but this example really cuts through, as it should, and is still a good “starter” or “reference” example until that minty one comes along (for like $800 bucks!)
Bidding starts at $9.99
From Bob Ludwig himself:
So after I mastered the album (which Eddie Kramer & Atlantic approved) it was shipped to all the radio stations and the initial pressing was all from me and Sterling Sound.
Amhet Ertegun at Atlantic heard the album (which Eddie demanded be as hot as possible) and apparently it skipped on his daughters little turntable. Instead of calling us at Sterling and asking us to lower the level a little and telling us where it skipped, they had the disk cutters at Atlantic use my EQ'd cassette file copy and they cut it WAY lower than my original cut plus, in my opinion, it sounded dull and generally not very good sounding in comparison.

This is like the 5th of these that I’ve had up for auction.a pretty nice example… * If the auction goes over $100 I will cover the extra shipping charge to ship this USPS Priority Mail in the Continental U.S.

Vinyl will be packed separate from its cover, in its own anti-static sheath, packed well between two cardboard spacers in a record size shipping box & sent USPS Media Mail

Records have been given a basic cleaning, but I would recommend a proper cleaning to get even better sound and performance!
Of course returns are accepted if item does not match description-Check my feedback, it’s 100% positive!

Just a note: These albums come from a "virus-free" home. My heart goes out to those that are affected worldwide. You can be sure that I adhere to the social distancing policy very strongly and will thoroughly clean & pack these items well before shipping.

Thank you for looking,
