Germany 1969

Original 1969 german 2nd issue of LZ II with RL cut on Side A, some german 1st pressings exist with RL on both sides like the US ones, but these are near impossible to find and incredibly rare. Here you have another holy grail, a very fine example of the german revised Version with the unbelieveable good sounding RL cut on Side A and the revised Side B. Later issues have 40 037 catalogue number on front of the Cover. Very hard to find in pristine condition and often like its US counterpart played to death, this one here is in near perfect condition with only very very light play marks and so it plays fantastic with almost no crackle or pop at all.

Vinyl is EX condition with very few and only very light superficial scratches under very strong light, Audio playback is in Near Mint condition, this german RL pressing sounds awesome. There is simply magic in these grooves! But don't expect the magic on Side B, because here you have the Side that wasn't cut by Bob Ludwig. The story behind this revised version of the "hot" mastering on both sides is that they were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that can be heard here. Why this also was done for the german market and why there was aswell a german RL cut of this Album is a Mystery. If someone knows more about it then send me a message please.

Gatefold Cover is in strong very good plus condition, little wear at the bottom and maybe spine discolaration I guess, please look at the pictures.

  • Matrix / Runout (Runout A, etched): ST - A - 691 671 - A LW W AT RL

  • Matrix / Runout (Runout B, etched): ST.A-691672-M LW AT W

This is the much rarer pressing with stamped Manufactured in Germany in the deadwax. This is the revised version where Bob Ludwig (RL) is credited in the runouts on side A, the LW in the runouts on Side B  indicates the metall-work of Longwear Plating. The pressing rings hints for a Teldec Metronome pressing. B1 is spelled on label incorrectly as "Heartbreakers".
