Description

This is from my own collection, I am not a dealer, in the next few months I am selling off part of my collection many rarities and collectible, no filler! Thanks for looking!

Please note that this album is complete and original 1969 UK pressing and is priced for its rarety rather than for its condition
the record and sleeve are original and 47 years old

This is the only one we have seen like this!  Super collectable and rare!

Lemon song on the label

There is a matrix 588-189 on side 2 with the 9 hand corrected to an 8! only a "B" is shown after the number not (B1,B2 etc) as normal with this album just "B" very very rare , we have not seen another like this.

side 2 has 588-188-A again (no A1,A2 etc) so its very very rare!

we have tried to show clear in the photos, any questions please ask!

Led zeppelin II recorded on their "mayhem tours" in USA in 1969, this is very much the sound of a band at work and finding their direction.
The classic tracks are here by the bucketful, Whole Lotta Love, Lemon Song, Heartbreaker all jump off the grooves with incredible clarity.
Page got what he wanted here soundwise and the mixing done at various locations dictated by tour schedule are a credit to the producer.
This recording really put Zeppelin on the map and Atlantic had to give the highest advance to make sure Peter Grants Boys didn't look elsewhere, one of the greatest acts in rock history were in business to stay for a long time to come.

Litigation copy !

Only the first presses came out with "Lemon Song" On the label, this was hastily retitled on Peter Grants orders on later presses for fear of impending litagation from the estate of "blind lemon jefferson"
Grab yourself a piece of rock history!

These are getting harder to find in anything like this condition, also Plant gets songwriting credits for the first time as he is considered "permanent" following US reaction to the 12 month old line up.

The Record

"good"  condition

Please note!

this has some background noise but no skips or jumps we graded down to "good"

with lemon song on the Label 1969 1st pressing

This sounds pretty good on our Rega 3, we also play tested on a Kenwood deck and its sounds good.

In "good condition" with some light scratches, hairlines and scuffs from sleeve removal over the years, bear in mind this is a 47 year old vinyl record! There is a mark across Ramble On which does not cause any skips or jumps. there is background noise in places and it has been well played.

Nice fat heavy pre oil crisis late 60s vinyl wow !  a very playable rare item

The record sits very flat on the table no issues, stored upright in smoke free home.

Plays fantastic with bright crisp sound may benefit from a professional clean (we don't do this as it's an individual thing) some background static is noticeable in the quieter passages but not many of those on this album! its has had a life of plays so bear in mind this is rare rare but its a "good"

The labels are free of writing doodles or stickers and retain great bold colours with no fade we can notice under light.

The sleeve

The lighter Brown 1st version

Having done it's job over 47 years the sleeve has some ring wear and rounding corners but no rips or tears on the "EJ Day" London W1 sleeve with the "uptight and Outasight" Atlantic appreciation society (17-19 Stratford Place, London, W1)  message (not on later versions) (see photos) VGC

No splits or tears, colours are good and not a lot fading, sleeve has some removal wear and ringwear see pictures.
The thick card holds up well, no writing , names or stickers.

on the whole a good sleeve and a great vinyl.

This is a keeper for someone looking for a wholly original fully playable 1st press of this great album.

Nr mint copies are almost impossible now sometimes £300+!
This is a great affordable upgrade!
See photos.....
