Led Zeppelin II 1969 1st Press No “RL” SD 8236 Gatefold VG/VG-.

For auction is a very good listeners copy of Led Zeppelin II, by the legendary British hard rock band. Their second studio album released in October 1969. It was a great commercial success internationally landing in the Top-10 in twelve countries. It topped the charts in seven countries including the UK and the US on the Billboard 200, the band’s first record to hit #1 in both. It features the song “Whole Lotta Love” which was a global Top-10 hit. It peaked at #4 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100, their only single to make the Top-10 in the US. The b-side, “Living Loving Maid (She’s just a Woman)” reach #65. Led Zeppelin II was not well received by critics upon its release. Many felt it was too hard and all the tracks sounded too similar. However, since then the album retrospectively has been revered. Now considered a classic, Led Zeppelin II has been included on several best of lists. It was included in the book, 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. In 2020 it ranked #123 on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. All songs are now classics including “Thank You”, “Ramble On” and “What Is and What Should Never Be”, which all still get a lot of radio play. Led Zeppelin II has sold over 15 million copies worldwide and 12 million in the US alone, being certified 12x platinum. This copy is a 1st Pitman Press.

Vinyl is play graded VG. Many light visible surface marks and hairlines but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with mild background noise at times that is not overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.

Gatefold cover is in VG- condition. Gold Record Award sticker on front. Scuffing and peeling on seams and corners. Title is legible. There is an inch split on bottom seam from open edge. No others. Corners have dents. Inch crease on front from title edge. Stains and ring wear on front and back. Scribble in pen on back lower right corner. Original Atlantic Records inner sleeve is included but a generic white due-cut one is used to protect vinyl. Please see pics.
