Description

An original very 1st press of HOTH on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A2/B2 - very 1st cut. Stamped 'RL Sterling'. Please note the labels are absolutely consistent with 1st press. All perimeter text stays within the southern sector - and there's no sign of the WB logo. Note that these early copies are very nice and heavy pressed unlike copies a matter of months later. The vinyl comes housed in an original matt gatefold with the original textured inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few very superficial marks per side - absolutely nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. There's some great audio rolling off of this copy - it is extremely well preserved. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. And this is of the utmost importance on HOTH as there are two or three very low-key tracks which will test whether your copy REALLY plays clean. And they are RAIN & NO QTR..and I'm pleased to report that this copy totally aces these tracks. Very few original copies are well preserved enough to carry off these tracks with a silent back ground, but this copy manages it with relative ease. You might detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. But don't go thinking every other copy will deliver this sort of clarity and quiet background. In my experience - not many play back like this. It's a top-level performer in every way.
Cover (Ex-) Difficult to find one that has steered clear of the usual surface wear. This example is much better than you typically find - with just a trace up around the top section on the front. The rear faring marginally better with barely any wear at all. The interior is immaculate - no issues. Edge wear is mostly light, in most areas much less than you typically find. But the only issue with this cover is that opening edge [where the record goes in] - for some reason it is MORE worn than you tend to find. The edge of the opening panel is nice and sharp - as you'd like. But you can witness the wear to the opening if you look at the back cover photo [left side]. It's not bad, but I need to make sure the buyer is aware that it is sub-optimal. The spine is in excellent order and overall the cover retains tremendous rigidity. Overall a really swell looking copy - only down side is that opening edge.
Inner (Ex) Typically found with ageing or foxing. This copy is looking very fine indeed. Has mostly avoided the ageing process. Just a couple of slight blemishes. No splits!
