Description
Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin" - Original 1969 vinyl LP - early UK pressing, purchased in September 1969.
Earliest possible 2nd press copy, with Atlantic red/plum labels, catalogue no. 588 171.
Has the grey strip across the bottom of the sleeve, indicating 2nd pressing, just after the
quickly withdrawn turquoise issue. This is the earliest red/plum with Warner credits.
Matrices: Sides 1 and 2 have 588171 ( with the second '8' crossed-out then hand-etched ) A//1 B//1
Stampers Side One 1 2 1 4 Side Two 1 2.
Vinyl: Side A - EXCELLENT+ / Side B - EXCELLENT
One obvious visible scuff on side two, which does not affect audio. A bit crackly at start of side 2.
Side two has the "two track" look (tracks 1,2,and 3 appear as one track, and tracks 4 & 5 as one track)!
Laminated sleeve is very good, slightly worn along edges. Lamination seems to have shrunk
slightly away from edges! Some creasing on corners and on front of sleeve.
The airship is pure black all over - the colouration in the sleeve photo is from light reflections.
I will re-photograph the sleeve if any potential bidder is worried about this.
My name and date of purchase are written on the back, but this is barely legible.
Inner sleeve is original poly-lined, but has been written on in large lettering,
is worn through and taped on one edge, and quite creased.
This LP is from my own personal collection, which I am now selling off. I am not a dealer.
I bought this LP new on 5th September 1969, eight months after its release. It would have
been played a few times in the 70's & early 80's, but since then, I have only played it three
times - once in September 1990, once in January 1998 and once yesterday, 3rd March 2015!
