Description
An original Red & Plum copy of Zep 1 on UK Atlantic. Matrix A1/B4. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill Press cover with Kinney company sticker on the rear. The sticker dates the copy to Xmas 1971 when Kinney were in the process of taking over Atlantic and renumbering the catalogue - hence the new number K40031. Also included is the sought after original Headhunters Inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) A beautiful copy and clearly has only seen light use. There's still waste vinyl in the spindle hole and the surfaces are shiny like a mirror. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of ultra-light marks..nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Audio quality, as you would hope for from a red & plum copy, is absolutely top-draw. Interference is minimal. All we detected was a touch of light static momentarily in a couple of tracks [literally]. This is very minor in nature and not even remotely close to being invasive, but just audible in places. Even these tracks play back well above average. Overall this little beauty is a stellar performer...you are going to love the audio on offer here...>>>
Cover (Ex+) Wowzers...quite possibly the best Zep 1 cover I've ever handled. I mean it is in truly unbelievable condition. Shiny practically like new. These covers are famous for ageing and the laminate creasing and lifting. This copy is like no other I've seen. Almost no laminate lift at all - this is super unusual. I can see two small thumb nail creases on the front - and that's all! All colour and imaging is pin sharp and has not dulled at all. Edge wear is super-light and the spine is 100% intact..even the opening edges are sharp! Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and lies perfectly flat. You will never find a better example...period!
Headhunter (Ex) It's a real treat to find an original one at all, but as an added bonus this copy is very well preserved. There's no writing or marking at all. No side splits at all. Creasing is very minor. The only even vaguest defect is a very light touch of ageing at the opening..but even that is very minor.
